April Chandler has dedicated herself to supporting the students of Loudoun County, their teachers, and the local community throughout her 15 years living in Algonkian District.
April brings a multi-faceted view of our educational system to her campaign for the Algonkian District seat on the Loudoun School Board. April has worked in early childhood education, providing young learners in Fairfax and Loudoun with a strong baseline that prepared them for advancing to more formal schooling. An active and engaged parent of two Loudoun County Public School students, April has served in multiple leadership positions for Algonkian District-based Parent-Teacher Associations. She has also gained important exposure to the inner workings of Loudoun’s school system through her experience working as a substitute teacher in a variety of Sterling elementary and middle schools.
April invests her personal time in the causes she believes in, and over the past decade she has volunteered for various local and national civic organizations, including the Loudoun County Democratic Committee, Moms Demand Action, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Together We Will Loudoun, and other groups. One of her earliest childhood memories is the time that she went knocking on doors in rural Kentucky in support of President Jimmy Carter’s re-election campaign.
April is a staff aide to the current Algonkian District representative, Atoosa Reaser. She is also a trained teacher who substitutes for LCPS and is an active member of the Loudoun County community, where she has worked and volunteered for more than 15 years.
